The 2009 IDC was very successful!  We had 126 participants (an increase from 2007 and 2008) which included numerous relay teams, spirit teams and individual competitors!  As an event we accrued 583 miles of swimming, 19,609 miles of biking and  5,526 running miles!

For those of you not familiar with the event - From January 1^st – 31^st, participants will strive to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles and more!  Beginning January 1^st, participants log their miles on the honor system as they are accrued and submit weekly on the provided chart.  The goal of this event is to encourage consistent exercise – and rack up the most miles  Remember:  Spin Classes and Treadmill miles count! 

ALL participants, regardless of miles logged, will receive a performance t-shirt at the awards celebration the 2nd week of February at the Westchase Swim & Tennis Center.  During the party we will announce our winners in each division:  Individual Male / Female; Relay and Spirit Team.   Winners are determined by the MOST MILES attributed to a full Triathlon.  You do not need to be present to win.  (click here for official rules and details -- Note new rules!) 

Teams must identify their affiliation on the registration form and appoint a team captain.  Winners receive a monetary donation to their favorite charity.  The amount of each donation will depend on the number of overall registrants in the IDC.  Examples of charities include any that fall under the Combined Federal Campaign Program.

Individual:   The overall Individual Male and Female winner will be determined by the total number of times a complete Iron Distance is completed. 

Relay Team:  Teams may consist of up to 3 individuals and each team member is responsible for one discipline in the triathlon (Swim; Bike; Run).   No one discipline can be shared amongst the relay team. 

Spirit Team:   Get your neighborhood; office or family together and start Tri-ing!  There is no limit to the number of individuals who may sign up.  For this category the bigger the team, the more likely you are to win!
